Straight answers about drawing, repeating, saving, and exporting in Keyagain.
Start with your first hand-drawn repeat, or find the behavior you are trying to understand below.
Where should I start?
Open the studio, choose one ink and Pen, and make three small curves. The square preview repeats them immediately. Follow our first-pattern lesson for a complete exercise, then change one setting at a time.
Why did an old mark change color?
Ink is linked to one of six palette slots. Editing a slot recolors all marks drawn with it. Choose a different slot before adding marks you may want to recolor independently. The background is separate from the six inks.
What is the difference between the two rotation controls?
Stamp rotation sets the angle for the next stamp you place. Pattern rotation turns the existing arrangement inside each repeat tile. The drawing pad stays upright, and the repeat rows stay aligned. Use the square preview to judge the rotated result.
Why is my download rectangular?
Any nonzero row offset uses a two-row repeat unit, so the export is twice as tall as it is wide. Keep that proportion when placing it in another application. Cropping it back to a square can break the staggered repeat.
Why is my PNG smaller than the resolution I selected?
The resolution choice is a base width at 100% scale. A 2048 selection at 50% scale produces a 1024-pixel-wide tile. With offset enabled its height is 2048 pixels; without offset its height is 1024 pixels. The status below the studio controls reports the actual PNG dimensions.
Can I move or erase one existing mark?
The studio currently has no individual object selection, move tool, or eraser. Use Undo and redraw recent marks. Size, brush selection, and stamp angle affect future marks; linked ink colors and pattern settings affect the existing design.
What does Clear Canvas keep?
It removes the drawing marks while keeping your palette, background, transparency, offset, scale, and rotation. Undo can bring the drawing back during the same session. Reloading does not preserve the undo history, so download any version you want to keep.
Where is my drawing saved?
When available, local storage restores one current canvas in the same browser on the same device. It is not a cloud account. Private browsing, clearing site data, or storage restrictions can remove or prevent the save. SVG and PNG downloads cannot currently be imported back into the studio.
Why does my transparent file look white?
Some viewers display transparent pixels on white. Place the downloaded SVG or PNG over a colored rectangle in another application to test it. Marker and Pencil also have translucent strokes, so their appearance changes with the surface beneath them.
The preview or export feels slow. What can I try?
Export a copy, then try a smaller PNG resolution or SVG. Very long strokes and many marks produce larger files; the studio limits a canvas to 1,000 marks and each stroke to 4,000 points. If a download fails, try another format and check the status message. Do not clear browser data before saving the drawing.
Can I use the studio with a keyboard?
Tab to the drawing square. Arrow keys move the drawing cursor. Space starts or finishes a stroke, or places one stamp in Stamp mode; arrows move the active stroke. Escape finishes drawing. Use the Undo and Redo controls, or Ctrl/Command+Z and Ctrl/Command+Shift+Z outside form fields. The preview opens with Enter or Space and closes with Escape.
How do I report a problem?
Email support@keyagain.com with your browser, device, the steps you took, and what happened instead. If useful, attach an exported example you are comfortable sharing. We cannot recover drawings stored only in your browser. Do not send passwords or private information.
