Hand-drawn wrapping paper
Small marks for a thoughtful little gift.
Create an open botanical repeat for a small gift, then assemble a printable sheet outside the studio. The reference is a real studio-rendered tile; the visual inspiration is a separate styling concept.
A result you can build toward
These are actual outputs of the studio’s drawing and repeat functions. They are reference compositions, not screenshots of physical products. Your hand-drawn marks will vary.
Download the reference tile ↓The download is the first example’s repeating unit, not the full preview. It opens in SVG-compatible applications; the studio does not import files.
An A4 sheet study
This digital composition is assembled from the reference artwork. It demonstrates the next layout step; it is not a photograph or a physical production test.
Download the layout study SVG ↓01 / Set up your drawing
Use Pen size 7, ink 1 #345B45, ink 2 #BD704E, and background #F4EBDC. Choose Leaf at size 22, alternating stamp angles of −25° and 30°. Set row offset to 50%, scale to 75%, and Pattern rotation to 0°.
02 / Make the example
Draw three loose stems at different heights and place a leaf near each. Add two small terracotta marks in the larger gaps. Inspect several repeats together: a leaf near the edge belongs to the surface just as much as one in the center. Keep enough open paper that the design does not become a solid green patch when viewed across a folded box.
03 / Compare and refine
Export SVG and place its two-row tile at 2 inches wide by 4 inches high in a layout application. Duplicate it without spaces to fill an A4 or US Letter page. For a borderless appearance, the printer or print service must support the required setup; otherwise keep the printable margins and trim them after printing. The studio itself does not export a complete A4 layout.
If the result feels off
If a row appears squashed, restore the exported 1:2 ratio rather than stretching the tile into a square. If the repeat looks too busy at the proposed size, enlarge the tile's physical placement in your layout or simplify the drawing. Do not assume increasing PNG resolution makes the motifs physically larger on paper; placement size is controlled by the layout.
Check the finished file
Print one proof, fold it around a small object, and check legibility at the corners and along the overlap. Choose paper that folds comfortably and test ink drying before wrapping. This project has not been physically production-tested. Save both the repeat and assembled page with separate filenames so you can change sheet size without losing the original tile.
